We’re committed to creating a judgement-free environment that makes healthy eating and living relaxed and fun. There are so many details in life that impact what we eat, how much we eat, why we eat. The more information the registered dietitian can learn about you, the better the guidance we can provide. Your first session will be a consultation, where we learn as much about you, your lifestyle and your goals as possible in order to offer the best possible guidance and support plan.
What Can I Expect From My First Session?
What Will I Be Asked About At My Consultation?
An expert dietitian will consult with you to learn about any medical diagnoses you’ve received, family medical history, previous eating and dieting history, weight history, medications and supplements, daily routines, activity levels, and current eating habits. If your nutrition support is part of a pre-surgical program promoting weight loss, your nutritionist will establish goals and expectations based on your surgical timeline and desired results.
How Does Nutrition Counseling Fit Into My Recovery?
If you are dealing with or recovering from a musculoskeletal injury or condition, we will work closely with your physicians as part of your care team. Nutrition counseling may be recommended for a number of reasons - as a way to lose weight before surgery, as a treatment plan in order to prevent surgery, or as part of a larger recovery plan that encourages you to stay healthy into the future. No matter how you end up working with us, we’re committed to your long-term health.
What Are The Benefits of Nutrition Counseling?
Nutrition impacts our health and wellness at any point in life. Our registered dietitians work with patients of all ages, ranging from the adolescents to an aging adult, in preventing chronic disease, staying healthy or managing a medical diagnosis. Nutrition counseling helps improve weight status, energy levels, blood sugars, blood pressure, cholesterol, bowel habits, and other medical problems. Our goal is to help you develop a better relationship with food and enjoy life.
What Can I Gain from a Support Group?
Groups and classes are perfect for those who want to hear additional tips and get exposure to more food products and ideas. Our small groups are open to anyone, and offer critical support from others who understand your challenges. Perhaps you already live a healthy lifestyle but would like some reassurance that you are doing things right, or a refresher on food products or recipes to share with your family. Sessions are led by a dietitian, and include additional recipes, tips, and resources to take home.
